Social, elitist and nostalgic anti-Americanism focuses on more social, moral, and personal preference. Social anti-Americanism talks about the social issues in America and how the French disagree with our ideas. These include separation between church and state, rich versus poor, and universal healthcare. Although these are also political issues, they are only political because of their social importance in our culture. Elitist anti-Americanism hates our culture including our food, what we value and more. The group that especially hates this is the French intellectuals. These people hate fast food, Hollywood, and what it stands for. Even though some of the French have engrained our culture into theirs, they still believe that France is superior to the United States. Finally nostalgic anti-Americanism is the original feeling of France’s superiority to the United States. This is because of the Americanization of France, which many Frenchmen do not like. This has also happened in other European countries, which caused some anti-Americanism around Europe too. They think that Americans have changed their traditions and their culture for the worse and caused their society to be less sophisticated.
